2nd/3rd Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment Association

The 2nd/3rd Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment was initially raised in Melbourne on 1 July 1940, trained at Werribee Race Course and embarked for the Middle East in December 1940. The Regiment was ultimately represented by a total of 1,935 servicemen who served with distinction in World War II, with Theatre Honours from Tobruk, Crete, the Western Desert, Syria, Port Moresby, Milne Bay, Lae, Buna and Borneo.

The Regiment experienced a high number of casualties through deaths, wounded and prisoners of war. In 1945, and following the cessation of hostilities, the Regiment Association was formed to co-ordinate an Annual Reunion of original members, to conduct an Annual General Meeting, and to assist former members in need of assistance.

2019 Anzac Day March

A total of 22 descendants stepped off at exactly 9.30 AM behind our newly refurbished Regimental Banner on Anzac Day.

The Order of March had the 2nd/3rd assembling at Swanston Street East between Flinders Street and Flinders Lane for a step off time of 0930 hours. As in the past, it was recommended that those intending to march arrive 30 minutes earlier in readiness for the march to the Shrine in case the Organisers / Marshals are ahead of the schedule time.

Remembrance Group

In recognition of the advancing age and dwindling numbers of the original members of the Association, the Constitution of the Association was amended in 2008 to provide for the descendants of original members of the Regiment to become full members of the Association. The provision of full membership of the Association to the descendants of original Service members of the Regiment (referred to as the Remembrance Group, and now numbering almost 100 descendants) ensures the future carriage of the Association is in good hands.
